Security Issues in the Middle East is a quarterly report that the Institute produced between December 1998 and November 2002 on Middle East energy security for Japan's Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) and its Petroleum Energy Center. Published in cooperation with Energy Security Analysis, Inc. (ESAI), each issue analyzes recent politico-military developments in Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Israel.

In December 1998, IFPA and ESAI also completed a regional study on possible crises and oil supply disruptions in the Persian Gulf entitled Possible Crises & Oil Supply Disruptions in the Persian Gulf 1998-2010.
